Jessica Machado is the identities editor at Vox. Previously, she was the identities editor at the Daily Dot and an associate editor at Rolling Stone. Her work has appeared in/on The Washington Post, Vice, BuzzFeed, Salon, Guernica, Elle, Jezebel, Broadly, Bust, Bitch, The Cut, The Toast, and The Awl, among others. She writes about sex, love, loss, underdogs, pop nostalgia, being a woman, being a mother, and occasionally the Kardashians. Born and raised in Hawaii, she holds BAs in journalism and sociology from the University of Hawaii and her MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Portland State University. She currently lives in New York with her husband and young son.
