Jessica Machado is a senior editor on NBC News’ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team. Previously, she was a staff editor at Vox, The Daily Dot and Rolling Stone. Her work has appeared in/on The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, Vice, Jezebel, Guernica, Elle, Bust, Bitch, and The Cut, among others. She writes about parenting, loss, underdogs, inequity, and her beloved home, Hawai’i. Born and raised on ‘Oahu, she holds BAs in journalism and sociology from the University of Hawai’i and an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Portland State University. Her memoir, Local (Little A), is her first book.
